Customer Reviews

When my son set his heart on a Science Fair experiment that required measuring the heat from a battery powered bulb I almost fainted until I remembered Amazon's diverse vendor/product base and that there are things like infrared thermometers. I found a company called "Sain" with a product [HDE Temperature Gun Infrared Thermometer w/ Laser Sight] that looked like it would do the job, was stunned by the reasonable price and thrilled by poss. getting it in time to work over the spring break. Not only did it get here as promised, with a battery as promised but it worked flawlessly and I can turn a twelve yr old loose to complete his experiment. Product, packaging, delivery, operational 100%pleased and will order from them again if needed. (read more customer review)

I actually bought this to salvage the IR heat sensor in a micro-controller project I'm building. After opening the case up I couldn't find enough info about the sensor, and thus couldn't find the data sheet, and thus can't use for my project. So... I put everything back together and am using it for its intended purpose...as a heat gun! The rubberized plastic feels nice... and having opened it up I can say that build quality is good! It was within 2F of a thermistor reading off my Arduino, and has the same stated accuracy of the higher end Fluke units. Definitely acceptable for the cost. (read more customer review)

i bought this because i maintain a pool and spa and it seemed like an easy way to check the water temperature. it works ok, its not as accurate as my other thermometer. but it seems to be within 2 degrees as the box says. i think i use it more to have the dogs chase the laser. its a neat toy for the price, but not if you need alot of accuracy. A very fun little device which works great and is quite accurate. At the price I paid ($15 shipped) pretty much anyone with an active mind would find it a fun and useful toy.

Have I gotten the stew hot enough to cook the meat? How much heat is getting through my roof? Is that person dead or only napping? This little device extends your sensory phenotype usefully at a dirt-cheap price.

In addition, the little laser can be used as a dog toy... AND if you think fido is overheating from the sensory overload, just pry his mouth open and take a shot of his throat. (also works with humans - my recommendation for using it as a germ-free fever thermometer).

Indeed, with the pistol shape and the red dot, you could probably fake out intruders in the dark who think you have a laser-targeted magnum pistol or some such thing. (note: probably not a good idea to try taking remote temperature readings of policemen for this reason). Typical discussion with home invader: "You're probably asking yourself... does this guy have a cheap chinese infrared thermometer or a laser-targeted .45 caliber pistol? Do you feel lucky, punk?"

No longer do you have to stick your finger in your microwaved meal to court 2nd-degree fingertip burns. Easily and quickly determine which child stole and wolfed your popsickle, or the optimum temperature of one's naughty bits for successful human reproduction. Demonstrate to skeptics the value of painting a roof white to save on energy costs.

Thousands of uses. Get one. (read more customer review)

Being that this is a no-name IR thermometer, I was a bit hesitant to get it. But after reading all the positive reviews I decided to give it a go. So far this thermometer is amazing. It's advertised as only going up to 716 'F, but it's read 1,000+ 'F temperatures accurately.

It comes with some incredibly poorly translated instructions, but you won't need them. It's very straight forward. Put in the battery, choose Fahrenheit or Celsius, set the laser to on or off, and start pointing at stuff.

As with all my reviews, I'll amend this review should anything go wrong with the item. But for now I highly recommend it.

------3/29/12 Update------

This thermometer is still working perfectly. I use it all time and it's still on the original battery. The readings are still accurate and there have been no reliability hiccups. I still highly recommend it. (read more customer review)
