  • Amazon.com Product Description

Bosch’s GLR225 laser distance measurer combines a user-friendly design with incredible accuracy over a wide range utilizing four measurement systems: inches, feet and inches, decimal feet, and metric. Beyond the variety of measuring tasks, it can calculate distance, area, or volume quickly and with precision which makes it ideal for electricians, contractors, carpenters, masons, and plumbers to calculate distance, area, volume, or angles quickly and with precision.

  • Precision and Performance

The Bosch GLR225 laser distance measurer is accurate to within 0.06 inches (1.5 mm), even at great distances--up to 230 feet. It has four measurement systems, making it vital in numerous circumstances. It can convert units into inches, feet and inches, decimal feet, and metric with only the push of a button.

It also has seven measuring modes--making it very versatile--including length, area, volume, minimum/maximum, continuous, indirect length (which calculates inaccessible distances that cannot be measured directly because of an obstruction or a lack of reflecting surface by using the Pythagorean theorem), and multi-surface area measurements. The multi-surface area mode calculates the total area of several individual surfaces with a common length or height and the minimum/maximum mode accurately measures to the shortest/longest distance from a fixed reference point, which is necessary with situations such as plumb lines and diagonals.

  • Easy-to-Use and Feature Rich

Bosch’s GLR225 laser distance measurer’s handy laser beam is accurate and remarkably quick to master. Just point, click, and the measurement is there. It has a built-in bubble vial to provides visual reference when measuring horizontal distances, and it provides you with four measuring reference points for optimum usage: back, front, a metal swing-out extension pin for measuring from inside corners or channels, or the center of an optional tripod. The GLR225 has a large, readable, graphic display, and a tactical keyboard that places the most-used functions in close reach. Also, its IP54 rating means that it’s protected against dust and water, providing a longer product life. At a compact 4 inches tall, it fits neatly into a pocket.

  • Dimensions

The Bosch GLR225 laser distance measurer measures 4 inches by 2-5/16 inches by 1-1/4 inches and weighs 6.35 ounces.

As someone with minimal handy-man skills, this tool is pretty much invaluable when I'm working on the house. Very accurate, extremely durable, and relatively simple to use (the first few times I had to keep going back to the directions, but that may be more indicative of my general inept-ness with electronic tools than a flaw in the device itself), the Bosch GLR225 is super useful!!!(read more customer review)

I purchased the Bosch as a replacement for a much cheaper Sears device purchased several years ago. The Sears tool was by and large helpful but it occasionally drove me crazy because it would produce an obviously inaccurate measurement and then repeatedly produce the same inaccurate measurement. The problem could only be corrected by powering off the tool and trying again. I used the Sears and now the Bosch frequently when I am looking at apartments here in New York City. The square footages claimed by the listing brokers are a joke so if I am interested in a particular apartment, I'll whip out my Bosch and take measurements. So far, this tool has impressed me with its accuracy and reliabilty. Unlike other reviews of this tool which I read, before purchasing it, I have not yet encountered instances where I had to wait four or five seconds for a readout. It's been virtually immediate, probably around one second.

I would defintely recommend this Bosch model, particularly at the price I paid for it, under $90, a great buy.

Isn't it always the case that just as you finish a major job in the house you find a tool that would have halved the prep work? In this case the Bosch Laser Distance Measurer would have aided my remodeled kitchen, powder room and bathroom. When I calculated the area that I needed for tile I measured the kitchen in the old fashioned way - with a tape rule and someone to hold the other end and, having measured each wall, I then did the basic math for the floor area. The GLR225 removes the need for a helper and the need to write down multiple measurements. It can even perform the calcs for you such as volume or area saving even more time.

There's a pull out pin which is useful if you're holding the device in a corner or somewhere else that you physically cannot fit it in neatly. The measurement can be from the end of the pin, the end of the unit or even the front at the press of a button and it's all shown on the very clear LCD display. There's a bubble leveler and the case apparently conforms to IP54 which means it's protected from dust and moisture. The accuracy is more than acceptable at +/- sixteenth of an inch and it can measure up to 230 feet.

All in all a really nice bit of kit with more features than most people would probably use - I know I could have done with it a few months ago.(read more customer review)

As a commercial real estate agent, I often need to measure large spaces or high ceiling heights. This unit does a good job, and makes me look like a pro in front of clients. Today we were wondering how much height there was above a drop ceiling. I shot a beam to the ceiling (14'-6") then shot a beam through a hole in a ceiling panel (it was pitch black up there so we could not tell how much space there was) and measured around 18' so we knew there was over 3' of space above the drop ceiling. This would have been a huge pain in the ass without the laser since the ceiling panels were 14 feet off the deck!

The guy who said that the buttons are mushy and the elastic case is not easy to get in and out of is correct. However, for me, it does not really matter. Yes it would be nice to have a backlight and loud beep to know it took a measurement, but those are not deal-breakers. In a quiet room, you hear a soft click when the measurement is done.

What would be really nice is to be able to cycle back through the last 10 or 20 or more measurements so you could take a bunch of readings all at once and then write them all down later. For instance, when using the square footage mode, you take one measurement, then the second and it gives you the square footage reading. You can still see the second measurement also, but there is no way to cycle back to the first measurement in case you want to remind yourself what it was. That's a pretty lame oversight and I am deducting a star for that.(read more customer review)

I have only had this since Christmas, but am already impressed. Not only measures distance, but will calculate surface area and volume. I have not tied the min/max or triangulation functions yet. So much easier than trying to get a long tape measure to cooperate when working alone.(read more customer review)
